Landmarken AG's design concept – developed as part of our well-established partnership with pbs architects and the Hoff engineering practice – won out over entries by other bidders in the competition thanks to its economic viability as well as technical criteria. Architectural design, interior layout with meeting spaces, an open feel and plenty of light, as well as the design of the exterior areas, were all impressive elements. In terms of economic viability, the healthy monthly rent for office and usable spaces played a significant role for the health insurance provider.
Plans include a total of around 12,900 m2 of rental area. There will also be 300 parking spaces. A basement with storage areas and parking spaces, a ground floor and mezzanine as well as five further floors are planned.
At the press conference in early May, Uwe Richrath, mayor of Leverkusen, stressed the importance of this new building for Leverkusen as a business centre, "The fact that this project has come to Wiesdorf is an outstanding development which will provide a significant boost to business in this area and confirm Leverkusen as an attractive office and residential location." Dr Frank Obermaier, head of economic development organisation Wirtschaftsförderung Leverkusen, was pleased that a "blot on the landscape" has been acquired by an investor who has been "won over by the location."
The new building will be constructed by Landmarken AG and then let to pronova BKK.
